Ever heard of Spencer Tunick?
I came across his work 5 years ago, and till now, his name is still one to remember. This American artist's installation art is extraordinary in the sense that he shoots/documents nude bodies -- not just individuals, but figures in the dozens, hundreds or thousands, mostly in urban locations throughout the world.
Tunick's models are all volunteers who agree to be photographed without clothing and who receive a limited edition photo as compensation. The artist has organised over 75 temporary site-specific installations in the United States and abroad.
The installations of grouped masses do not pertain to the subject of sexuality, but instead, are "abstractions that challenge or reconfigure one's views of nudity and privacy".
How about you? Would you be comfortable volunteering to go nude in public if you knew a few hundred others would do the same?
